With over 14 years of expertise in promoting sustainable marine and coastal resource-based income initiatives along the East African coastline, with a focus on Kenya. He has developed and implemented management plans for conserving coral reefs, seagrass, and mangrove ecosystems, while coordinating stock assessments in the Shimoni-Vanga seascapes. His work includes training local communities, marine park managers, and practitioners on conservation area establishment, and organizing workshops and conferences to foster knowledge sharing. Currently, he leads efforts under the SAVEFISH project to harmonize ecological and fisheries data collection at the Kenya-Tanzania border, aiming to establish a Transboundary Conservation Area. As a GIZ Returning Expert, he enhanced community capacity in fisheries and habitat monitoring, informed fishermen about threatened reef species, and developed a framework to safeguard small-scale fishers' livelihoods by identifying commercially critical fish species at risk of extinction.
